The Kids Are All Right - review

Wow! This movie has been nominated for awards? Annette Bening won the Golden Globe for Best Actress? Are you kidding me?

I just finished watching The Kids Are All Right. It was another boring, depressing gay movie about an unfaithful lover, filled with cliched wardrobes, cliched roles, cliched speeches, cliched gratuitous nudity, cliched sex scenes, etc. I didn't believe Annette was butch for a second. There was something very forced in her acting, I can't believe she is winning awards for this job. The close-ups of her wrinkles seemed to be the real force behind the character. Julianne Moore did a better job and was clearly the star of the movie, with far more scenes and screen time. But, still, this was just another depressing gay movie with all the stereotypes I've seen in dozens of gay movies, just better production values and name actors. (Same bad editing, though.) Next time I want to watch a good gay movie, I'll watch The Wedding Banquet or Big Eden.

I did like the landscaped backyard.

Just my opinion, for obvious reasons I am not a professional movie critic. I just know what I like (haha, reminds me of the first dirty cartoon I ever saw, two women standing in front of a painting of a penis and one woman saying "I don't know much about art but I know what I like.")
