Out of sheer boredom, I agreed to go out with one of my exes last night. Billy. He's been calling me for the past few weeks and I figured why not? Now I remember why not. It has everything to do with all of the reasons he's an ex and not a current boyfriend.

Why is dating in DC such a hard thing?

Because it's a game, that's why. Relationships everywhere are about power, and the difference is that in DC, nobody bothers hiding it.

Man, am I a beacon of good cheer.

The difference is that in DC, all the men are egotistical, cheap bastards. Actually... come to think of it, so are the ones in California. I think I just attract them.

Eh, I think I'll just become an old spinster aunt who spends all her time spoiling the kids. You won't mind that, will you?

Honey, that's not DC. That's...well, everywhere. With very, very, very few exceptions.

I won't mind that in the slightest. He'll need that. My brother's getting married the end of next month, and I have yet to meet the girl. I don't have the greatest feeling in the universe, but -- I don't know. He hasn't proposed to any of the others, so who knows.

(That 'kids' in the plural? I'm hoping you've got other siblings, 'cause this is a one time deal for me.)

I thought we discussed the dating of the exes and decided that it was a bad idea. Call me and we'll go out and pick some men in a club. One night stands are the easiest, unless it's with well...you know.

Why is dating in DC so hard? Because it is a game...and there's an audience.

Yeah, well, I think they deserve the money back on their tickets to watch my life unfold.

I kind of wish I could TAKE their tickets back.

Unfortunately, I don't think either one of us gets a say.
