Commission and Alteration FAQ

Dec 30, 2037 23:23

As many of you have probably been wondering, I do take commissions now!

These are the items I take commissions for:
  • blouses and cutsews (coming soon)
  • skirts
  • jumperskirts
  • one-piece dresses
  • replicas**
** On Replicas: I do not do straight replicas. LIving in the states, I am unable to find the exact lace/print to do it. Also, I do not like to compromise another persons ideas or designs. So when I do a "replica," it will have differences. It will not be an *exact* replica. I will only replicate my own work.

I take commissions on a rolling order to order basis. As I finish one commission, I take a new one. And so on and so on. So I am never really closed, unless of course I get COMPLETELY backed up to the point where I am not sleeping. It has only really gotten that bad once, so thankfully I am on schedule.

PRICING:

All of my items are priced competivitely, but please understand that since each piece is made to order, and they are all different, that commissioning something would cost more than your average ready-to-wear item. Each commissionable item has a base price, onto which you may add details and matching accessories. Price quotes will be given on a case by case basis. For a price quote, please email me at aiichan@joliechosedesigns.com

SHIPPING:

The full shipping faq can be found here, but I would like to underline the fact that shipping for commissioned pieces will include insurance. Everything will be shipped carefully via Priority Mail for domestic orders, and First Class International (unless otherwise requested) for international orders.

PAYMENT:

For the full payment faq, please refer to this page. For commission payments, I always take a non-refundable deposit of at least half. The remainder is due when the commission is completed, plus shipping. You may either pay the remainder in one sum at the end, or you may pay it in increments during the time your commission is being produced

TURNAROUND:

As I mentioned before, I take commission orders on a rolling order to order basis. I take a new one once I am finished with another. Because this is my chosen job path, this is a 9am-5pm job. So I have all day to devote to my work. But I do have a life and like to relax sometimes.

At the moment, turnaround is 3-4 weeks from the time the fabric is in my hands. If you need your items by a certain date, I would be happy to accomodate with a rush order, by squeezing your order in between someone elses. For a rush order, please add $20 to your final price.

REFUNDS:

If you find that you are unsatisfied with your custom garment upon receiving it, you may be eligible for a partial refund at my discretion (partial because the deposit you paid is non-refundable).

ALTERATION FAQ:

I do alterations as well!

What I do alterations on:
  • blouse sleeves and additions (elasticizing capped sleeves, adding detachable sleeves)
  • blouse fitting (pulling in or letting out seams, adding waist ties)
  • bodice reconstruction (ie: fully shirred to fitted)
  • waistbands (adding elastic, removing elastic, zipper insertion and removal)
  • dresses to skirts (bodice removal)
  • skirts to dresses (matching fabric to make a bodice)
  • skirt sizing (ripping out gathers and re-gathering)
PRICING FOR ALTERATIONS:

My base price for all alterations is $25. The rest of the price is determined by the work involved overall.
