I like to think the spectrum is a bit more diverse than that. I loved living in England and would happily return if I could, but I wouldn't say I hated America and all the stuff in category two. I definitely assimilated and fit in more in the UK than I do in the US, but I still maintained pride of where I came from. I think people like you and me tend to just blend in and not be noticed. The two groups you defined are so gaudy in a way that we can't help but notice them.
