Updatey and Memey
I haven't actually done a real update since returning to school. Whoops. Life's been amazingly busy and hectic and frankly, I just haven't had the time. There's really too much that's happened to go into too many details about anything, but some highlights:
-Classes are going pretty well...some are really difficult, some are amazingly fun. I need to talk to my advisor about possibly adding a performance practicum for "Special Projects." Which would bring me up to 18.5 credits...yet I think I could handle it.
-Example of these "special projects": Playworks 2007 which I was cast in! I'm playing a very elderly man. I've never done something like before, I'm excited. :-) Also! This will be the first time I've acted (outside of class) since last year's Playworks...so early May.
-Life's been crazy. You'd never assume that 3 of your close friends would be making ER visits in a week and a half....two in one day. Luckily all three are doing fine now, but it was a high-stress, worrisome time.
-I had my first real, professional bartending job a week ago. My mom called me on the 15th and told me that a caterer she worked with had a party on the 17th and she was willing to give me a shot bartending, pairing me with one of her experienced bartenders. So I went out and bought a tux shirt and bowtie and took the train up Friday for the Saturday event. It was a lot of fun, great experience, and when I have the time to dedicate to a job, I want to start trying to find one again. But it seems that may have to wait until the summer at this point. I'm already amazingly busy and after Spring Break I'm going to be even busier due to rehearsals (and maybe the performance practicum) and Wellness (College-health class). The guy I was working with gave me some tips and also the name/number of a guy down here in Baltimore who might be able to find me some jobs maybe at the Sheraton Hotel next door to Goucher. I haven't done that yet, but the past week has been...well, long. I think I doubled the time I'd seen my GF this week when we had lunch on Thursday and were together for an hour and a half or so. It was rather sad. But! This week shouldn't be as bad. Which is...well, good.
-I've also been helping with the Light Hangs for the French Plays being done next week. I enjoy them, and they're not usually too difficult. Though sometimes they can be rather strenuous...like when you have to hold a light upside down and hang it that way...above the bar it's supposed to hang on. But we got it done, and it was some more experience...and money! Always nice to be paid for doing what you enjoy.
-I was supposed to be organizing/acting in a Purim Play for Hillel...the fact of the matter is that I didn't care enough about it because I was already involved with too much else...also the play wasn't amazing, had far too many characters, and the ever-dwinding cast was also too busy with other commitments to really care all that much about it either. The Hillel director wants me to help out with the smaller play which they're trying to find to put together. I still don't care 'cause I'm still too busy. The Hillel director's guilt trips are really annoying, though. We'll see what happens. My best friend/roommate is organizing it now though, and I told him I'll do it if he needs me...more out of helping him out than helping her. I don't really want to though. Here's to hoping it comes together without needing me.
-I need to go score my monologue to be in Standard British dialect for my Stage Dialect class. I also need to read my Clinical Psychology textbook. And watch Death of a Salesman. But first...a shower.
