Amber math milestone

I introduced Newton's Method to Amber tonight, since she's been very interested in the square root of two recently, and Newton's Method is a pretty good way to approximate it.  Also, I thought she might be ready for the process

I cannot tell you how much I love this post.

(I have in fact spent "lying in bed waiting to fall asleep" time using Newton's method to take square roots in my head. It's just awesome how fast it converges on the answer.)

For those of us out of the loop for a long time What is Newton's Method? I must keep up with my 8 year old granddaughter!!!
