In my house, we love our contest shows. The four main ones we've been watching have recently concluded. I just felt like writing my opinions of each result. I can only speak to Survivor, as I don't like the other ones. Yeah, Rob did have a big advantage, but I can't recall any other player, even Rob himself, exploiting it the way he did this time. Perhaps it took him several times to learn how to keep a cool head when living under conditions of deprivation. I am glad he won, because I agree with his attitude towards the ethics of the game. Survivor implies that in game terms you only survive by 'outliving' the other contestants. Zero sum: they live, you die. To play the game, you will have to either 'kill off' your opponents or get them to 'commit suicide'. Like King of the Mountain, only one can be at the top; like Highlander, there can be only one; like Zombies; you live if you run faster than your companions. This is not a game of friendly rivalry. You can win Survivor being a nice guy but being a bastard should not disqualify you. Nor should it be considered an accurate measure of your game play.
