When the post comes up, there should be a little arrow near the top right of the post. Click on that arrow, and it will give you a drop-down box of options. The very last option is usually, "Ignore all by __insert game name here______."

If you click on that each time you see a game notification, it will block all of those game notifications, without blocking other posts by the person.

Just FYI, there was no arrow. I did an internet search, and found out what to do. On the main page is a drop down menu with a default of "News Feeds". Changing that to "Status Updates" fixed my problem.
