work, work, work

Jonny rubbed the back of his neck as he trudged back to his quarters. He hadn't meant to be gone so long, but after once again chewing out the marines and sending them for the promised twice daily 'training' with Ronon (which Ronon was scarily pleased with), he'd been tagged by one of the geeks in Astronomy. They'd found some new systems but couldn ( Read more... )

Chuck looks up from his computer screen. "Hey, am I still under house arrest or can I go out when you're not here? Not back to work yet, I promise, but I've been getting bored." He gets up and goes over to Jonny, kissing him. "How'd your day go? Where've you been? Why do I suddenly feel like an old-fashioned housewife who's been waiting all day for her man to get home?"

Jonny looked embarrassed as he remembered that he'd told Chuck not to leave. "Sorry, I didn't think I'd be gone so long. Geeks over in Astronomy grabbed me. They couldn't get the translation programs to work with a system that popped up a few hours before. Looks like we're in for a light show in a few nights." He grinned with boy-ish enthusiasm. "We got a comet on the way."

He laughed at Chuck's ramble and kissed him to quiet it. "I'm not complaining about having someone to come home to, but sorry about being gone so long. Yeah, you're free. I just wanted to make sure you took it easy. How you feeling?"

Chuck grimaced. "I feel fine, and there is absolutely no reason for me not to go back to work. We're shorthanded since we...lost Lorne's mission, I don't want them having to cover for me on top of that. Not when I'm fully capable of doing at least part of the job."

He laughed at Jonny's enthusiasm for the comet. "Sounds like fun. As long as it's not headed straight for the planet or anything..."

"Well, if you're sure..." Jonny certainly didn't look sure, but he wouldn't hold Chuck back against his will. "Just take it easy, okay?"

Jonny shook his head, grinning. "Nah, it's not gonna come that close. It'll pass as close as the Moon is to Earth. More than safe distance. We'll probably see some spectacular meteor showers when it comes, as we pass through the tail trail but other than that? Perfectly safe."
