Last post, I worried about Facebook. This post I'll (hopefully) elucidate why.

Its happened before, and now, we are better at it. )

facebook, technology, politics, corruption

wow..its amazing how perceptions shade views. Of course I am just a wingnut, but there is almost nothing you have written above that I agree with other then the Taliban wont lose.

I have followed your writing sheesh...what has it been? 12-14 years on RGP and now here. I dont ever remember disagreeing completely with you before.

Actually I think the Fascist is in the White House right now, and although he comes from the left, one must remember that so did Hitler. The revisionist books might disagree, but most history books are written by members of the left and that has been quantified

I think both you and JK are over the top in using the term fascist for Obama or Nixon/Dobbs/Palin. I stole this from Wiki, but this is spot on
"Richard Griffiths argued in 2005 that the term fascism is the "most misused, and over-used word of our times"

The prime fascists of the last 100 years are Hitler and Mussolini. None of the Americans listed above are fascists or stalking horses of fascism.

Person who disagrees with me does not equal fascist. Words have meaning and we demean the discourse by using words like fascist, or communist, or socialist.

Of course, what do I know..I am just a right wingnut

George Bush stressed strong Nationalism, which is pretty much the central tenet of fascism. He singlehandedly brought the word back into vogue, even if it wasn't completely correct; he was a pretty strong capitalist, which is opposed to fascism.

Honestly, Obama doesn't qualify either; the corporate welfare of the bank bailout kind of cinches that one.

Not yet. I gotta sneak off into the Canadian hinterlands before that happens.

The number of bad things that would happen before that became relevant make that, ah, far fetched to worry about in any way.

I hope I am not about to offend you, I like you. I don't know you, so take what I say as meant for the Massive You, not you in particular, okay ( ... )

I'm hard to offend, honestly, and I've gotta say it got me thinking.

Dunno. The only thing that's offended me lately was an acquaintance who claimed the PATRIOT act was okay, because it really didn't affect her personally. That hurt my head. How we treat others is eventually how we're going to be treated; no one stays on top forever.

My best friend is Jewish, and has had a hell of a time flying for the last eight years; the number of bag searches he's gone through for looking semitic has been pretty eye opening.
