We apparently have different views on Nixon which makes me curious. Why do you think Nixon is if not the worst modern President, that he is among the worst modern presidents?

I've often wondered how the school system teaches about Nixon. It is hard to get a young brain around the evils he perpetrated, so I am pretty sure they must just gloss right over it

I'm too tired to respond completely to this now, but I can't sleep thinking about it either, so here are two quick thoughts before the longer response. First, Nixon did illegally "spy on" large groups of people through his good buddy J. Edgar Hoover. It wasn't tens of millions, because Nixon knew more precisely where the interesting stuff was, but yes, he damn sure did stuff like that. Constitutional amendments? I'll find stuff on that devil that will make it clear he wasn't protecting and upholding the constitution either. Secondly, and more interestingly, it is going to be very hard to say what I want to say better than what Hunter S. Thompson wrote in the Atlantic on Nixon's death.HST is way over the top by nature, but he's generally correct anyway, and I'll find some facts to back him up. Okay, now time for a nap.
Fascism is not merely a popular movement, it is a movement from disgruntled people. I see a lot of disgruntled people coming.
Have you ever read this book? It is a bit dated now, but the themes are still valid, imo.
