Yeah, if I could only get around my utter failure to believe, I could see becoming involved with a Catholic Workers group. I'm just about always impressed by people I meet who are involved with them and that has included a few nuns.

I have known Catholic Workers who had an utter failure to believe.

That doesn't surprise me. But there is something at a visceral level that makes me uneasy about working for a religious group whose faith I don't share. I don't condemn it in other people, but it's not something I think I'd have an easy time making peace with. My almost knee jerk reactions when people start talking christianity around me would probably end up offending someone anyway.

Yeah, I know what you're saying, sure. But the extent to which a CW house is a really 'religious group' may vary by particular house.

I could definitely go hang with the CW's for a limited period of time, and might some day. But I think I'm not quite as anti-religion as you either.
