White men relevant in politics?

I just watched a very surreal CNN report about the growing importance of the white male voting block.

They were saying something implausible about democrats having all but written off white men, BUT WAIT, it seems they're now making gains among them again, and they're becoming a key Texas and Ohio swing vote. The whole thing was very strange. I think there's a meta-lesson to take away from the whole thing, but I'm not entire sure what it is.
