Took third place in my division - a 12 person division with an $85 entry fee. Opened the envelope i was handed for third place and found $350! Wow, thought I, these WGPO payoffs rock! Tim Adamson came to let me know that I had been given the 1st place finisher's envelope by mistake. Well, that would be a little much to expect from third place ( Read more... )

I wouldn't judge people based on their leaving early. I usually always stay for awards ceremonies, but there have been times when I took off because I had a really long drive ahead.

What bothers me more is people who hang around but don't applaud the winners in any division but their own.

That would be a really good prize. Congrats on placing, btw to both of you! As for your comment, I echo Scott in saying good point. We don't always stay for the awards; probably not as often as we should. I felt personally like I played well this weekend; only 4 "runaway" games, 2 each way; the rest by 61 or less spread wise. I'd write more, but alas, not too adept on typing on the Droid yet. Lol.

I like staying for awards, but missing a flight for it might be a little much. ;)

Um... what if you are the only person who has to drive back 500 MILES and you have to work the next morning???

What if you get paid by the hour, and those 15-30 minutes of waiting for awards has a DIRECT impact on your next paycheck.

I can respect my fellow players without having to give up $15-30 on top of the travel expenses.
