I want to talk about them with you, but I have to get ready for class. Stay tuned.
BTW... have you seen Allen's Whatever Works? It's a typical post '70's Woody film, that is, it isn't anything groundbreaking, but it's a fun and entertaining film. I liked it in that context.
I look forward to discussing "An Education" and "A Serious Man" with you! Whenever you have the time. (Though I will be very busy this weekend, so if I don't reply until Monday, you'll know why. This weekend is the Charlottesville Jewish Film Festival. I'm on the committee; we've been planing this for a year.)
No, I haven't had a chance to see "Whatever Works." I hope to get to it soon.
(And yes, you are right. I posted a very similar version of this review back in 2007. I did some slight revision to it and reposted it, so that it would be in the Jewish section of my website, with the other Jewish films.)
I don't know about Cable On Demand. Where I am, my cable company only makes available on demand the biggest contemporary Amercian blockbusters. But maybe in New York, it's easier to get a four-year-old foreign film. (You're lucky to live in NY where it's a lot easier to find things outside of the narrow mainstream.)
If you can't get it On Demand, Netflix has it. I hope you like it.
