Well, there are some adoptees who consider themselves transnational adoptees, and when they're adopted transnationally they don't really have a choice...

interesting, complete removal of choice...although the idea of hegemony in America would be that we all have no choice in being removed from the transnational equation...

i know people's families that have been transnational for generations. like my friend curtis, whose great-great grandfather bounced between detroit and china... work in detroit, support family in china. not till his parents were they not bounching back and forth with family everywhere and livelihood here.

i think my family is pretty transnational, but more forced currently cuz of the lack of healthcare here. so my ma's in hong kong, and would like to bounce back and forth 6 months-6 months if she could afford it.

but i do think it's happened forever... people migrating and living lives everywhere.
