1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Traveled further than I ever had before, to Baltimore/DC.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I'm pretty sure I didn't make one, and I don't really plan on making one.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My step-sister-in-law gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My next door neighbor, Eileen. She'd had cancer for a few years, but she used to take care of me before school when I was a little kid. Probably the nicest and most caring person I knew.

5. What countries did you visit?
the fuckin' US of A.

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Possibly a love life? It's only been 3 years in the making.

7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Hopefully none, 2008 was fucking awful for the most part.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Seeing the Hold Steady 5 times. Being on the Deans List again.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Life?

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I got a stomach bug the day after I got home from spring semester. Some asshole crowdsurfer fucked up my left thumb at a Hold Steady Show.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
I bought a ton of stuff this year. So it's between Hold Steady tickets, my SG, the 12-string Neck, or the keyboards.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Concerts / gear.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Hold Steady - Baltimore + NYC

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
"Constructive Summer" - The Hold Steady / "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?" - She and Him

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

Older or wiser?
Wiser yes, but I'm infact younger than compared to last year.

Richer or poorer?
I think about the same. I'm awful with money,but that's ok. I figure I'm going to buy everything I want during college, when I don't have any real pressing expenses.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Been with friends. I'm still a fucking hermit.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Confining myself to myself.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I worked. That kinda sucked dick.

22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
Nope.

23. How many one-night stands?
none

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Kinda a tie between House and Always Sunny. Either will do.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Probably. Life is fleeting, seems that "friends" are too.

26. What was the best book you read?
Hmm. "Spike, Mike, Slackers and Dykes" was really good. As was "On The Road",and so far "A Confederacy of Dunces" is fantastic.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
She and Him / Born Ruffians / Cadence Weapon

28. What did you want and get?
Gear.

29. What did you want and not get?
A Better job. Money. Friends. Love. More gear.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
It's funny, I work at a video store but don't really see many movies. I guess The Dark Knight. Forgetting Sarah Marshall was really good too.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
If I recall correctly I stayed in and made a (bad) steak. Then i did homework. I turned 20.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Having more people in it.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Same shit, different year.

34. What kept you sane?
I wasn't. I've had more panic attacks this year than any year previous.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Zooey Deschanel. Still.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I stopped fucking caring.

37. Who did you miss?
Everyone/thing

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Steve Fucking Bailey.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
Believing in other people is a fucking futile measure.
