Decided to get an online account with a company I'd been doing business with offline for years. Filled out the online form, got an email saying my info was being processed and they'd mail me a temporary password the next day ( Read more... )

Same thing happens if you open an online bank account. In fact, you get two letters - one with the PIN and one with the account details. It must be an anti-internet scammer measure.

I know it's a security thing. This is an insurance company, and they'll do ANYTHING to avoid risk. But that doesn't mean we can't see the irony and grumble about it!

Yeah, it's a skeery world. And I'm sure the company sent it to me in the mail for security reasons. But, nevertheless, it brings out my inner ironist.
