Last night wasn't any better.

The idiots that:

-- stick around an evac area waaaay too long, JUST to get on TV (Count: 3)
-- endanger their kids to have a good time (Count: 1, see the Darwin Surfers in my journal)
-- stick around an evac area because they've gotten it into their heads that Blogging the Experience is Cool (Count: FIVE, for fuck's sake, also, fuck you very much, Katrina. )
-- "Hell, I been round through storms -- here, hold my beer while I whack another nail in this here board -- an we figger this ain't no different." (Count: Only 1, thank Bob.)
-- reporters scared out of their wits and clearly wishing to be anywhere but there (Count: 2.)
-- those who thought it'd be just fine, then saw the pics of water pouring over the Galveston sea wall and decided to get the hell out, only, they couldn't and had to be rescued by SOMEBODY (Count ..... : FORTY-FUCKING-FIVE. I fear for the species. Truly I do.)

We've become a nation of idiots because the media became profitable; thence, it also had to be cheap. Good journalism is a big time-waste/cash waste. It's easier (and more to the point, cheaper) to point a camera at something and babble, or have "experts" on for five minutes, plugging books, than doing the ground work on a real story.
