The Meager Puddle of Light Awards: Best Opening Line - And the nominations are…

Dec 02, 2009 12:58

First off, I’d like to say a big ‘Thank you’ to everyone who entered the competition and/or voted to select the finalists for this year’s Puddle for Best Opening Line (and a final apology for all the messing about I caused during the process).
Out of nearly seventy entries, ten made the final cut with at least fifteen votes each. Well done to one and all.

Without further ado, it’s time to select the winner.

Poll The Meager Puddle of Light Awards: Best Opening Line

This poll will close on Sunday, December 13th at 11:59pm (US/Eastern)

So, what's at stake here?
Aside from the envy and admiration of their peers, the top three finalists will get to dip their toes in the meager puddle of limelight which my journal can provide when I post an interview with each of them - assuming they’re still talking to me by then. In addition, the overall winner gets the offer of a guest blog spot, here on An Englishman in New Jersey, if he/she so wishes.

Congratulations to these honorable mentions (who just missed the finals with fourteen votes apiece):

One last thought:
If you didn’t make the finals, but would like to know how many votes your opening line(s) got, let me know in the comments and I’ll send you the answer in a private message.
Happy voting, and thanks for taking part.
