*cringe* Ya, that closer would get people to leave..
How do you choose what songs to play? Do you go in with certain things in mind? Crowd reaction? I find myself making a playlist that mimics sets you post to see how the songs go together etc.. just curious.
I wonder how people at city club (and other similar clubs) would react to something like Emigrate.. hrm..
I put songs together based on what is requested, what I know will work (or has worked in the past), or something new I want to try out. I don't ever really plan ahead I just picks songs in the moment.

Should be on the (r)etired list only to surface for special events (retirement parties) aka "old-skool" sets.
Should be put on the (i)njured reserve list. Injury or fatigue from overuse have made these players innefective for the time being. They need time on the bench for rest and recovery in hopes that they will one day be contributers again.
Covenant - Dead Stars - i And One - Panzermensch -i Das Ich - Destillat (vnv remix) -i Skinny Puppy - Smothered Hope - r Front 242 - Headhunter v1.0- r Sisters of Mercy - Dominion/Mother Russia- r Icon of Coil - Dead Enough for Life - in danger of injured reserve.

At the moment it seems like I'm forced to play at least one Sisters song a night. The one you mentioned is one I don't play that much.
I barely ever play "Destillat", "Smothered Hope", or "Headhunter" anymore. Honestly I'm surprised they all those songs got played in the same month let alone the same night.
"Dead Stars" and "Panzermench" are only played when needed. There usually part of the "Oh shit no ones dancing" set.
I'm sick of "Dead Enough For Life", but a lot of people still love the hell out of that song. It gets at least 30 requests a night still.

Andy should put out another Icon of Coil. I've heard clips of the new Apop and I'm just not interested at all. It's not bad but they just seem like an average indie band now. I have high hopes for the new Covenant though.
I think you are right on in shelving the 80's + some of the early 90's industrial. Maybe they will be cool again someday in a retro kind of way.
There needs to be more bands like IAMX and maybe the Killers who can sort of rekindle the 'alternative' I grew up with. It was all the cool music that was in addition to the electronic stuff.

I would love another IOC record. Machines Are Us was a great disc cause it wasn't the same song over and over again. Neither Andy or Seb's new projects are as good as IOC
