I know some of you have done this before, and I'd like to poll opinion the lazyweb way. How easy is it to hire a venue with a bar, late licence, DJ booth and dancefloor, for one (Friday) night, as a one off, somewhere in or near Central London? And how much would it cost?

Friday and Saturdays can be tricky but I know that The Fly at 36-38 New Oxford Street usually has one Friday/Saturday ecening a month without regular commitment that they can hire out.
I haven't got the figures at hand but I think they charge about £350 for both floors (capacity about 180 people I think). Ground floor is the bar area, basement includes stage, dancefloor and DJ Booth.
Another place I'd have a look at is The Lexington on Pentenville Road (part way between Angel and Kings Cross Stations). I don't know there rates as yet but you can hire their upstairs room which has DJ Booth, Dancefloor, Stage and Bar area. Again they are usually booked up but may have a spare Friday or saturday once a month.
