I just got power back last night. I've been living in a small cold, dark apt. with no hot water, and no way to heat anything since my stove is electric. Lots of candles and flashlights kept me going as did a health club above the line where the blackout was that was full of people who came in to take hot showers. It got colder as time went on. And the only way to get food was to go uptown and wait on line. Miserable, but it really has taught me to appreciate electricity. Today I went to a nearby library (mine isn't open yet) and actually got some writing done. Life is slowly returning to normal in Manhattan. Yay!
