I *heart* Joe Lieberman

Seriously, I would be happy to have him in the oval. I haven't researched his position on all of the issues yet, but I do know he has a brain in his head and that he cares about what is best for the country rather than increasing his own power and influence.

Read this, and then tell me I'm wrong.

I could swear he had a whack-a-ding-hoy moment not so long ago, but buggered if I can remember it.

Who do you think is less electable, him or Obama?

He is probably less electable. The Democrats foolishly pushed him out of the party, and he is way to socially liberal for the Republicans. Campaigns will likely hit $1 billion in '08, so without a major party backing a candidate I don't see a way for an independent or 3rd party ticket to keep up financially.

In truth, I like Lieberman where he is: a senior, independent senator. He is in a good position to call people on their shit, regardless of which side of the aisle they sit on. He doesn't haven't the charisma to overcome his Independent status in terms of a presidential run.

Obama is a kid, comparatively. He is good at talking about ending the war (which can't happen; we might end the occupation but the war will go on), but I haven't heard much else from him.

I'm not a big fan of Senator Lieberman, even though the article sounds the right note of sensibleness. He is a very adept opportunist, not that that is unusual in a politician. I certainly wouldn't vote for him (too smarmy for me), unless the other choice was even worse (kinda like I felt about the Wooden Man vs. the Shrub, and the War Hero vs. the Shrub ( ... )

Ultimately, I was less concerned about Joe's stance on the troop surge, and more his thought process and overall attitude. Based on articles, columns, and interviews, I haven't seen him as an opportunist...well, at least less so than most other politicians.
