What that indicates to me is something that I've long found frustrating: When two people disagree about "religion", or any particular religion, they are so rarely talking about the same thing.

This is why, incidentally, folks like Harris and Dawkins tend to target fundamentalist interpretations of religions. They say what they mean, they put it down in black and white, they'd vociferous about what they believe, and they're absolutely, demonstrably wrong. When you get into wiggly definitions and interpretations, it's hard to have any real discussion, because you can't get past the "define your terms" stage.

Certainly understandable, but for my purposes, somewhat useless. Once you get past the realization that childish and absolute understandings of spirituality are wrong, where do you go from there? In my opinion, if a person is able to describe or explain their experience of the Divine with logical argument, they are probably missing something. The nature of the thing is beyond and between words.

Having said that, I think certain phrases or passages or statements can accurately convey the feeling of an aspect of spiritual understanding, and the C.S. Lewis quote above certainly fits that bill, at least for me.
