This is why, incidentally, folks like Harris and Dawkins tend to target fundamentalist interpretations of religions. They say what they mean, they put it down in black and white, they'd vociferous about what they believe, and they're absolutely, demonstrably wrong. When you get into wiggly definitions and interpretations, it's hard to have any real discussion, because you can't get past the "define your terms" stage.

Having said that, I think certain phrases or passages or statements can accurately convey the feeling of an aspect of spiritual understanding, and the C.S. Lewis quote above certainly fits that bill, at least for me.
