I'm glad you posted this. When I read the news, I literally gasped (at work) and said "Oh my god. John Updike died!" This was met with a moment of silence (don't mistake it for reverence) and then a "Who?" I looked around the nearest cubicles and they all were giving me odd looks. I say back down dejected.
Thankfully Chris knew what I was talking about. I sent him an e-mail and he replied "That was a punch to the gut."
He wrote an amazing short story about a photographer's family. Like a lot of his work the married couple are past the newness of their relationship and bored, but he goes around talking about everything in terms of photography and cameras, referring at one point to the F-stop of his daughters pupils. LOVE it!
