OMG!! So jealous. I love Hamlet but David Tennant AND Patrick Stewart? *is so jealous* I'm assuming Patrick Stewart was Claudius, right? *loves* How awesome. I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself.
I know, it was absolutely amazing. You could see lots of David's 'Doctor Who' exuberance in all his manic excitement and madness and he was just gorgeous throughout and the way he just nonchalantly and skillfully delivered all the famous lines without any pomp or over-emphasis was fab. As for Patrick, he was just brilliant. Whereas David was bounding all over the place, Patrick just underplayed and reacted to all this with his usual flair and panache. He played the new King and the old King too so we got to see double Patrick *swoons!* and just to hear his voice booming out from backstage when he's telling Hamlet to 'remember' just sends shivers down your spine.
It was totally brill and is one of my faves. Have you done Hamlet yourself in your own multi-talented repertoire?
I have yet to do my two fav Shakespeare - Hamlet and MacBeth. I have done the Ophelia flower scene for acting class but that's about it. But I adore Hamlet. I've seen 9 live versions and I have 2 versions on DVD/VHS. It's my dream to someday do a version with a female Horatio. that could have some really interesting dynamics, as far as I'm concerned. *g*
Yes, it's a shame they're not taking it on tour cos it is totally worth seeing, the whole performance was just brilliant.
David is just as gorgeous as he seems on screen, he just throws himself into everything with such exuberance that you just have to love him. And seeing David-belly was just swoonworthy *drools*
