it's still major surgery but the cut isn't as large as in the past. my mom had hers out and the cut he entire stomach area open! mind you that was almost 30 years ago
I'm glad you're going to be seeing your GP and hopefully will get to see another surgeon, the waiting game is always such a pain (literally). At least the surgery will be laproscopic and therefore the recover should be swift. Good luck with the restricted diet, that really sucks.
Have you though about seeing a natropath in the mean time?
Wow, you're lucky you got a diagnosis so quickly. I suffered for years without anyone knowing what it was - fevers and all. It wasn't until a nurse asked if I had taken codeine - which I had - because codeine can interact with gallstones. My attacks felt a lot like heart attacks, which landed me in the ER more than once.
They removed my gallbladder (which was apparently jam packed with stones) laparoscopically and I was back to work within two weeks.
Welcome to the limited fat intake club. For the first little while your diet is going to be fun - if you have fast food, make sure you're near a restroom. On the bright side, some foods that were a problem for me before were no longer an issue afterwards.
