Construction men are cutting down the trees behind my apartment. I can see the sundered branches clearly through my windows, all of which look out in that direction. Now, instead of a dense foliage occluding the urban sprawl that lies beyond the courtyard, there are stumps of trees. I don't know why this is happening. Just like I didn't ( Read more... )

Thank you for understanding. I am so connected to trees, I feel as if it was people who have died--that is, living, feeling entities to which I am connected. Looking at the stumps makes me want to burst into tears. I've lost friends. The view from the windows is barren now.

Oh, I know. All the trees in my parents' house contain memories. Over the years, my parents have chosen to cut down a number of them - the pungent pear tree, the slender, tall oak, a thick tree with many boles, the two firs. I understand why they did it (some were sick; there were other reasons, too). But I still felt such pain watching them get fed into the wood chipper.

Haha, omg. I haven't had maple syrup in forever. I used to put both butter and maple syrup on my pancakes when I was little. Those were good times...

And yeah. Cutting down trees? Definitely punishable by death unless sanctioned by Important and Wise Persons. I should have had the final say in this.
