Good to see you here. I'm using my phone to reply so I can't format. First of all, wow. It sounds like this child is in control of his house. I don't advocate beating the hell out of him, but two adults should be able to talk without him totally dominating everything!! I am stressing out about parenting because I'm expecting, so take this w/ a grain of salt - but I would start with distinguishing between a tantrum and a meltdown - tantrums are a child trying to control and manipulate. Tantrums are usually best ignored. Time out is pretty much a place for kids to go where they get no attention for their actions. Meltdowns are when kids are past their coping skills and out of control. What does his dad do when he throws tantrums?
