Gay role model 1995.
I'm doing some research for a Fanfic I'm beginning to write, and I'm looking for a gay role model that Harry would have been aware of during his 6th year at school.
I was hoping for a British person. (obviously muggle or I might've made someone up).
Can anyone help me with this? I'm quite intrigued now.

Or, obviously, Sir Elton. Everyone knows about Sir Elton John. But I think Harry would like John Barrowman more, and I'm fairly certain he was on the West End and TV in the late 90's. He's obviously a bigger star now, but I think he was fairly well known then too.

Rupert Everett came out in 1989, too.
Boy George has been out for a long time.
John Inman would have still been known for being gay at that time.
Derek Jacobi.
Ian McKellen - especially considering his vocal campaigner status.
