LiveJournal Etiquette

A lesson in what shits me most about peoples' LiveJournals.

What to do:
  • Write things as you'd say them. I can't stress this any more. Things become so open to interpretation. If someone doesn't understand what you're saying, you're missing out on a number of points.
  • Use punctuation. Apostrophes, capitalisation, commas, full stops and paragraphs. ( Read more... )

*Use alternate case throughout your entire post. ThIs Is JuSt pLaIn UgLy, no matter which way you look at it.
Use full words:
dis is spelt this;
dat is spelt that;
lyk is spelt like; and
wif is spelt with *

I have to say I could not agree more with you. There is nothing I hate more then reading someone journal (even some of my friends) that try to write in "ghetto" it just makes them sound stupid. I know 25 year olds that write that like, it is sad really. Oh and I found this on the random search and just had to comment, hope you don't mind.

No one ever seems to find my journal by searching randomly, but apparently there are quite a few who have found yours.

I *love* to take quizzes.. and I like to post the results on my site. But I post all of them behind ONE lj-cut (I put something like 15 quizzes behind one before I started a new one.) I'm really slack about capitalization though.. blah.

but wats the point of getting a journal.. wen all ur gunna think about when your typing is.. "hmm.. maybe i should spell out _____ ( fill in the blank) cause ______ ( fill in the blank) might read it.. and wont like the way i rote that..

or im not gunna put my 2 favortie colors cause its obnoxious..

maybe they want the journal to be hard to read.. kinda like.. if u really want to read it. u can highlight the words to make it easier..

Clarification is an omen on the internet.

If someone writes something intended as light-hearted humour and it comes across as unbelievably serious, what're they going to think of you then?

And come on, what's the point of a livejournal where it's next to impossible to read? There's a thing called complimentary colours, aka colours that work together and there are ones which don't work together whatsoever, for example, your livejournal.

Three simple words: Fundamental design flaw.

If you want to make your journal difficult to read, then make it friends only.

Your journal info made me laugh "the one my parents won't read, but i'll let the rest of the internet read, because it makes me look cool that i have a livejournal."

hmmm not really.. cause i put that cause its kinda of a joke that my partents dont no how to use a computer...and plus why would i care that people that dont even no me read wat a rite..

and i think that anyone reading anything on the internet should realize and KNOW that you cant really express sarcasism or something very well.. so i think they would at least find out the facts before they get mad or something..

do us all a favor and delete yours. how annoying.

i wanted to subtly add something to the effect of "get a fucking life" to this post, but i think you get the point. honestly, if you take internet journals this seriously, i don't even want to know what you think about the rest of the world.
