For the first time in a while, I felt the urge to write poetry. The first line was pure inspiration on my part, the rest was my attempt to expand it. I rather like it, and I hope you do too.
Onward We Stumble
Forward, onward, we stumble through this life,
Trembling and tumbling, slipping and sliding,
Ever weary, never resting, dreaming,
Seeking, unknowing, blind, onward we go.
We know not the purpose, know not the goal,
Frantic and hectic, confused and reaching,
Hopeless yet hopeful and always searching,
Stumbling through the misty haze of the mind.
Forward, onward, we seek to understand,
Hurting and aching, crying and wailing,
Fighting and killing, living and dying,
Seeking, never knowing, onward we go.
We take ten steps forward, nine steps back,
Dancing and singing, laughing and sighing,
Explaining, teaching, pretending, lying,
Saying we understand things we cannot.
Forward, onward, we stumble through our dreams,
Trembling and tumbling, slipping and sliding,
Ever weary, never resting, living,
Seeking, unknowing, blind, onward we go.
