Yesterday I was quietly reading bell hooks' feminist theory: from margin to centerin the corner of the break room, not bothering anyone, when my boss plunked down next to me and asked what I was doing. I didn't especially feel like telling him I was reading feminist theory, as I have yet to meet any boy in Southern California who doesn't visibly ( Read more... )

someone, say me for example, called your manager to complain about some comments overheard made by your boss?

That would take care of you "justifying" his hatred for feminism, but I'm sure you would like the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

P.S. What a fucking cock!

excellent idea, but:
a] i DO want the satisfaction
b] these happened before we opened/in the back room. if questions were asked the stories wouldn't match, as no one who didn't work at O.N. could have possibly heard him.

thank you though.

*stands silently as steam rises from her ears*

Feeling violent. No words.

I'm so, so, so, so, so, so sorry. *smashes head into keyboard*

Seriously. Not that my sympathy is useful in any way but.. you have it.

i was recently having a problem like this at my place of work.

my boss(manager) was making us say the pledge to the flag b/f
shift started, and if we didnt..hed freak out..tell us to
get the fuck of out of this country..blah blah blah..

he made alot of battered women jokes, that NO ONE found funny..
along with gay..racists..atheists jokes...

i finally pulled him aside one day and explained to him calmly-that this type of behavior on his part was
very unprofessional..and explained just why..

and i honestly havent heard a pro-war/Bush is god rant or any stupid women jokse from him since.
(but if it had continued-i was planning on reporting him to HIS boss.)

do what you have to do.
b/c really-work isnt a place for those types of 'jokes'.
its ridiculous that you have to put up with it at all.

hey lady,

that really fuckin sucks about work bullshit. i hate that you're stuck in this place between not being able to do anything about it, and telling on him and making him feel like his point is proven even more.

i like that person's idea of having somebody call and say they overheard him saying that stuff, but if your work is anything like mine, the kid would probably get an unfelt slap on the hand and the rest would be written off as "stupid customer complaints" by the management. how do you think the manager would react to this stuff?

a kid got fired for sexually harassing a customer -- he was hittin gon her, felt her ass, fun stuff liek that. the guy was a notorious creep who liked to talk about "smaching" girl's pussies and having orgies, "i like being the last in a line of 17 guys to fuck a girl," etc. because old navy workers are pretty un-pc people, ie we talk about sex and tell dirty ethnic jokes, we don't really complain when people amongst us do shit we don't agree with. i don't know why; i guess we don't want to make everyone feel they need to be tight-lipped and censored. there is a boundary, of course, but i don't know if anyone's ever said anything when someone else has crossed it. i thought i heard the manager saying a lot of people had complained about this flirty ass-grabby kid, but it was only until a customer did so too that action was taken. they don't really care about what we say, i guess; maybe they don't want to feel resposible for censorship too? they only care about lawsuits, etc ( ... )

i'm really glad he got fired for sexually harassing a customer, but DAMN, him feeling her ass? things had to go that far? that sucks. i really hate how workplaces (and it seems like especially corporations, but i think that's just a coincidence) treat sexual harassment sometime. at my work, they're in the process of firing somebody for harassing a fellow employee, but the manager in charge of firing is being really condescending to the girl who made the complaint. like, he put his hand on her shoulder and said "don't worry, he's getting fired---oh, wait, i'm not allowed to touch you!" blegh.

that's the kind of shit my boss was doing today -- setting up a situation and then feigning horror and "oh, no, I can't x, because you're a girrl!" and then snorting in "laughter." It's pretty fucking sick that this type of shit still goes on.
