Like the story very much. The Doctor is late getting involved, but better than never. I'm very interested in how and if he's going to get jack to go back.

Small thing: In the first para in the TARDIS, I think maybe you meant to say self deprecatingly, not deprivatingly (doesn't exist as a word). You really don't need either of them, tbh... '...he muttered to himself.' is sufficient, simpler and stronger as a result. IMHO that is.
