Happy Birthday, and congratulations on the house! You're in a better position than I was when, at 29, I bought my first house. Well, I was perfectly set financially, having an excellent job and some savings from it. But I wasn't ready for a huge (4+ bedroom) house from 1903, in desperate need of having just about *everything* fixed. Still, I did fine, and I expect you'll have a blast.

Yeah, I'm glad this house is small and that I'm obsessed with house repairs. I looked at a beautiful (okay, it had the potential to be beautiful) old house on Washington st. in Bratt about a year ago, and it would have been great, but so, so, so much work. This is a smaller bite. It's going to take a LOT of work, but anything will improve this house.

Happy Birthday Josh! and congratulations on your new (to you) house! That's really exciting for sure. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun fixing it up to be exactly what you want it to be. You going to write about your house fixing process? That would be a story I'd love to follow!

Cheers!

For sure! It's something I've wanted to do for so freakin' long, I'm going to blog the shit out of it. This is not just going to be a house for me, it's going to (have to be) a lifestyle for a while. I plan to take a lot of before pictures, and after pictures, and perhaps some "during" pictures as well. I just wish I could convey the entire house, not just a picture or two. But we'll see, maybe I can come up with something. I'll probably start a new blog dedicated to the house, but I'll post on LJ whenever I blog about the house too, I think.

Yeah, me too. I'm very curious. I often think that life is cyclical and that you can sometimes find yourself in a spot that reminds you of a previous spot. Whenever that happens, I like too reflect upon the past and learn from it, and hopefully make my present and future a bit better.

Yeah, I miss you too. The only too bad thing about being out here and enjoying new england is that I'm away from all the dear people out west. I thought about portland the other day, and I really missed it. I could still see myself living there, if the circumstances should arise. Mayhaps you'll come visit me when the house isn't a complete worksite.

A HOUSE! Oh mae gawdness! That is so very exciting and I imagine you'll have a great vision for it as you repair/remove the parts of it. Hoo-rah, a big (wooden) sandbox to play in and with!

And Happy Birthday to ya too -- I agree with ya there, all of my birthdays in recent years have been 'just another day with maybe some cake.' I've never understood "this is your special day, it's all about you." Wuh? Every day is a good day to do something Good.

Mike, you hit the nail on the head. It IS a giant sandbox! I'm going to literally live in my dream. And yes, I have (many a) great vision for how I'm going to change things and fix things.

Are you still in Noho?

Nope, I bicycled away from Massachusetts last July with the goal of the west coast -- but ended up stopping in Minnesota. Been living here with my folks for about the past 8 months. All my household knick-knacks are in storage in NoHam and I expect to be back there for a few months next summer.
