Plays. The Fringe festival is a big theatre festival that takes over an entire section of downtown Winnipeg for 10 days in July. There are 11 official venues with 10 shows each, and then there are another 12 "bring your own" venues, which are abandoned warehouses and church basements that people borrowed to do their shows in. All together, there are well over 100 performing companies. Winnipeg's is the 2nd largest in Canada, the only one bigger is Edmonton. They're 2nd and 3rd largest in the world, the Edinburgh Fringe over on your side of the pond lasts an entire month and has near 500 companies, last I heard. I've been doing stuff on the Fringe for years, this will be my 16th year involved, and my 8th show. I'm producing it with my Top Dog company, and I'll be running sound and lights. A lot of work and alot of fun.
