This is great! Can't help you grammatically (urg I suck) but I think you did a good job demonstrating your interests/skills specifically for the program. You demonstrated well your teaching abilities with the Shaws checkout, maybe mention how you enjoyed teaching others (although what you have is solid even without). Are there other parts in the application where you have to list how proficient you are in Japanese, or is it assumed everyone who apply is proficient, or is it not necessary? If it's not anywhere else, you may want to mention how many classes you've taken, etc. Also You mentioned you were interested in foreign cultures but I'd like to know why you started with Japan specifically, or did you try out a few foreign culture classes and decided Japan was the most interesting one. Have you interacted with a Japanese person either as Shaws or elsewhere? If it's a interesting story, you may want to include some of that
