My boss' mom passed early yesterday Monday morning. They originally tried to create a slideshow of her life with PowerPoint but couldn't find a way to export to regular video to be played on a DVD so I transferred it to iMovie which worked great in the beginning

move the header to the spot you want to clear then
edit>split at header
move the header to the ending of the odd space
edit>split at header
highlight the timeline where that odd space is with your mouse
right click>clear.

at least that's how I do it since I am an imovie noob.
