Giles raised an eyebrow at his partner, glancing down at Wesley's hand and then back to his face. He had the strangest urge to take Wesley back to the hotel and strip him of the gun. It wasn't that he didn't understand why Wesley carried it. In fact, he had a stake with him at all times. He thought, perhaps, it was just the urge to make Wesley feel he didn't need to have it on him. Which was absurd, of course, because at the hotel, Wesley wouldn't need to. Just close to hand.

Sighing and pushing those thoughts away, because he knew there was never going to be a time when he didn't feel safer with a stake near to hand and Wesley didn't feel safer with his gun the same, Giles nodded toward the children. They'd stopped to get popcorn.

"What would you like to do next, love? There are some games over there . . . Connor seems to be eyeing the one with the rings and poles."

Dear Wesley,

Your kind thoughts and condolences are much appreciated. Buffy was like a daughter to me, and I confess that her passing has left an irrevocable void in my life that I would not be able to, nor would I care to attempt to replace.

I am pleased that the Codex will prove useful in your endeavours, please let me know if there are any other texts that you require and I will be sure to keep my eye out for them here. I hope that whatever trouble you are having with AI will be resolved forthwith, I believe that you would be a great asset for them. However, I can understand if there are currently some difficulties, especially with Angel as head of the operation.

England is pretty much the same as it always has been. Dreary most of the time, overcast and drizzling, and yet...it still has a charm that is all its own.

My reason for being in England has proven to be more complicated than I first anticipated. But I expect that to resolve itself in the near future without too much further ado. Quite frankly I am a little perturbed by the recent reshuffling of power in the Council, but perhaps having been out of the loop for so long has made me less in tune with the current needs and aspirations of our institution. More on that later.

Well I must be off, apparently I'm expected for a fencing match with an old chum of mine from our academy days. It seems like an age since I held a foil. Will let you know how it turns out.

Looking forward to hearing how you are faring in Los Angeles.

Kindest Regards

Rupert Giles.
