Official Highlander audio CDs?

Mar 10, 2009 23:54

There are apparently audio stories available on CD. AP is the voice of DM.
Look here: Big Finish Audio CDsI totally missed this. Does anyone know anything about these? Who wrote them? Did they get Jim to voice Joe? Are there any snippets online? It seems like it’s available to buy now and it appears official. Maybe someone has bought them and can ( Read more... )

Weird. You would have thought there would be fanfare on the HLWW and AP sites and lists, and this is the first I've seen. Never heard of the outfit.

hmm. It is strange that there's not more info out there. Hopefully we'll learn more about them. Right now it feels very sekrit *g*

I read that Big Finish was very influential in Dr. Who. I think they put out stories before the new incarnations of the Dr. and helped keep the fandom alive.

I'm all for keeping HL alive (well, as long as it's nothing like The Source *hack*) These at least sound like stories within the HL universe.

I dug a little deeper on the site--these 4 audio CDs are being offered as pre-release orders, to be officially released in a staggered fashion April-July, if I read right. Adrian apparently recorded them very recently, in just the last few months. No Jim Byrnes, alas!!! No Peter Wingfield, also alas.

This may be an interesting media venue. We'll have to see how it turns out.

Interesting! I know the Big Finish audios for Dr Who are extremely popular, I didn't realize they did Highlander too.

Yeah, apparently they did. I don't know why it's being kept so secretive within the fandom. duh. You'd think we'd have heard about them. If die-hard fans don't know, how will they get the word out? I hear they did a good job with Dr Who. *fingers crossed* that the HL ones aren't made of suck. How's that for confidence. LOL!

Haha, not that the franchise has inspired very much confidence since That Movie...

Someone asked about it on one of the lists, but there hasn't been anything really said about it. Do we actually know Adrian contributed to this? It seems that it would be on Adrian's official webpage. Or that Carmel would have announced it on the official list. I would be interested as long as the actual actors were involved and I knew it was a quality product.

I don't know. The site does say "starring Adrian Paul". It is odd that there's been no official word from HLWW or Adrian. The Big Finish site certainly makes it look like it's completed and ready for purchase. Usually Adrian's website would have announced it when he started working on it. It's perplexing that it's been kept so quiet. I'm looking forward to hearing more about it.

The Doctor Who audios are fabulous, but are audio plays, rather than audio books, and usually have very good and comprehensive casts, and fantastic writers (Most of the big name script writers in New Who, started out writing the scripts for Big Finish.)

I suspect that the Highlander audios will be like the SG-1 and SGA audios, with one main actor reading the story, with maybe an accompanying actor adding a bit of colour. Even so, I think you'll be surprised by the high production values.

There is a trailer snippet for one of my favourite Big Finish SG-1 stories on the site. If you're interested in what the Highlander audio format will sound like, this will give a good indication (also, Claudia Black and Michael Shanks snarking at each other is vastly amusing!)

oooh. Thank you! You make it sound promising. The SG-1 does sound good. And I really like the idea of audio plays. I really wish they had also got Peter and Jim. Oh well, maybe if it turns out to be popular, they will for future cds. *fingers crossed* that the HL ones are good.
