I'm baaaaaaaaaaack!
Wahoo! I wish I could just vacation forever. I had so much fun, I can't even tell you. But I shall try. :D
*~Vegas~*
Day 01
So I left on June 27th and got to Las Vegas around noon, to which I was greeted at the airport by the infamous
Reyn (LJ) and
Allys (Ygal), and one of Reyn's friends LB. They had already been staying at the hotel a few days before I arrived, so there was this awkward tension of that newly-met friend thing that had everyone giving a stare that asked, "Will you like me please?" LOL! Which was honestly pretty humorous, because we fit together like a perfect puzzle afterwards. It all began as we waited for my luggage in the claim area for a God-awful long time, before I said, "Well, I have no idea. Maybe they lost it? Or maybe someone took it. It's pretty generic...it has a yellow piece of string on the top--"
And Allys pointed, "A yellow piece, like that?"
And low and behold my suitcase was on the rotater. We all had a good laugh because it had probbaly passed quite a few times without any of us noticing. For some reason I always feel like my luggage is going to jump up and down and wave like, "I'm here! Over here!" And I have a fear that no one will help me with it and I'll just get dragged around the rotater with a defeated expression on my face. I managed to get it my first tug though, which made me feel good about myself, because no one wants their first impression to be a ball of anime-nerd flailing under a handbag.
So, with my luggage in tow, we booked it from the airport and made our way to the time-share we stayed at, which should have just been called a condo. It was huge! A living room, full kitchen, two bathrooms and one super gigantic bedroom with two queen beds...it put all of my apartments to shame. The funny thing about it was that it was pretty much a disaster site, too.
Because we were all preparing cosplay for AX, the whole entire living room was littered in fabric, sewing supplies, hats, capes...lamp shades were spilling over with wigs and boas. If we weren't in Vegas I'm pretty sure the room keeps would have thought we belonged to a cult. Especially because LB had a giant foam sword for her Xanxus costume (from Hitman Reborn) that looked more like a cross than anything else. I can't even imagine what those poor people thought.
But our view was incredible. It overlooked the fountains at the Bellagio so we got to see and hear the thundering boom of water from every show which was a real treat. I think those fountains are my favorite part of Vegas aside form Reyn.
Picture of View:
So after we dropped off my stuff we headed out to the Springs Preserve, which is sort of like a water conservation museum in Las Vegas. It was really interesting and fun, and they have an outdoor area as well as indoor. The outdoor area had tons of beautiful gardens and animals native to the Nevada desert, and the indoor part had air conditioning (LOL, yes, that *is* a feature) and games to play that revolved around learning how to conserve water, go green, and save the environment. Here are some pics from the preserve:

So after that little adventure we went back to the hotel room where I became Iron-Chef-Ladelle! Haha, I guess I'm the only one who was able to cook a bit, and I happily volunteered to be the meal maker for the four days we'd be staying there. So for the first night I destroyed two pots trying to make fettucine alfredo, only because I'm not used to plastic utensils and melted a poor spatula away in one. The food all tasted great and came out plastic free, but I pity the poor soul who finds that baby pot on their visit and wonders who was trying to eat a spatula on their vacation.
After that funny escapade I went to bed, and got made fun of because I'm a morning person and therefore must turn in at an apparently sacriligeous time. XD
Day 02
The next day we traveled to LB's house, where we swam in a pool of lukewarm ecstacy and I attempted to tan. I completely fail at tanning, by the way. When I used to be in marching band I could soak up the sun and look super bronze, but these days my skin's either like, "Forget it, you're white!" or "Hey, wouldn't it be awesome if you didn't tan, but instead got one diamond shaped sunburn right in the middle of your back?" I don't get it. But I tried, darnit!
So that was totally fun. OMG then we sought out my most favorite thing ever--gelato! Behold the gods of Italian goodness, I am fascinated with this dessert. Actually, why limit it to that. I could make gellato a meal. Every flavor. Forever. Like when you're a kid and your teacher says, "Hey, if you were stranded on an island and could take five things with you, what would they be?" I'm pretty sure one of mine would be a lifetime supply of Gelato.
Later that day we decided to go get our tickets for Cirque De Soleil's Ka dressed in our wig-gage. I snagged a pretty long curly black one and ended up looking like Katy Perry. Reyn got me awesome eyeliner designs courtesy of muah, and LB wore this super long black wig to which a woman remarked, "Oh, you have such beautiful hair."
LB smiled and ran a hand through it saying, "Yeah, I get told that a lot." HAHA
LB and Reyn all dressed up

I don't know why I don't have any pics of Allys. She put on this short black wig and looked super cute. It looked like her real hair even.
We totally scared this lady in the elevator, too. She was afraid to be in the elevator with us...I think maybe she thought we were drag queens? I don't know what that should do to my confidence, hahahaha. But I guess in Vegas when you see wigs that's what you assume.
We bought our $125 tickets (D8) from an expert salesperson and tinkered through the casinos and the strip, and no one seemed to care that were were all wiggy, which was cool. After that we sauntered back to the hotel to finish up some sewing and stuff, and I went to bed early because I'm an old lady trapped in the body of a 22 year old. :D
Day 03
On the third monring Allys and I were left with the condo to ourselves because Reyn and LB had to work. But alas! We were not left without assignments. My job was to dye my shorts (orange) and coat (brown) for my One Piece Jewelry Bonney cosplay. This was epic. Allys and I used the kitchen sink, and when housekeeping came by we were super suspicious in only asking for towels and not letting them in, mostly because we really didn't want them to see the damage we were incurring. Or had incurred. Did I mention the living room looked like an exploded Joann's Fabric store?
We made up a funny story, too, Allys and I. About how to construe the Hansel and Gretel story to fit our crazy fabric dying. As if some town was convinced there was a which brewing broths made of kids but in actuality it was just some cosplayer desperately making costumes. This came from the fact we were stirring clothes in the kitchen sink, something I have never done before in my life. Haha, it was pretty funny!
When the jacket was done we rushed it to the bathroom and had to make a makeshift cord to hang it in the tub, thinking the tub was porcelain. It was plastic though, so in our panic to get it hung up we realized the tub was getting stained. So now, not only had we requested a plethora of towels and resisted room service, we also had a blood red rim around the basin. I can only imagine what that hotel thought happened in our room. *shakes head*
When LB and Reyn got home we decided to hit the outlet stores, mainly because Allys and I are slightly fashion obsessed. I wanted an Ed Hardy wallet with every fiber of my being and she wanted...a lot, LOL, so we dragged Reyn and LB out. Sadly enough, the Ed Hardy store had no wallets so I settled for a Fossil one instead and got a cute shirt at Lucky Jeans, and gome cute yellow pumps at Charlotte Russe. Lucky Jeans was a huge hit for everyone...our sales guy was a master of the trade. I'm a salesperson myself however, so his tactics didn't work on me, bwahaha! Everyone got super cute clothes there though; they were having an impressive sale.
At Charlotte Russe LB wanted my fashion advice on getting a pretty dress for the Cirque show, which was super cute. I love fashion but I don't consider myself super trendy. But we all got cute outfits and headed home when the shops closed, and I made chicken maranade and salad, and we slinked off to bed.
This was a building next to the outlets. It's totally meant to be that way too, it's not falling apart. Most awesome architecture ever.
Day 04
The next day was the same as the previous, Allys and I left alone to work away on costumes, only this time it was in finishing up mine. I had to paint stripes on my shorts, we had to figure out lacing for my thigh-highs...it was more time consuming than anything else, but Allys and I always had a kick together. We just chatted and chatted away (both of us are pretty sociable) and by the time Reyn and LB got home, it was like no time had passed at all.
We made some lunch and got ready for the Cirque de Soleil show, all of us looking pretty sharp. The show was absolutely amazing (though they cut a scene in the middle; I think they were having technical difficulties) but...yes. Go see it. Buy the soundtrack. It was simply wonderful.
After that we all went back to the condo to pack for our early departure to LA the next morning, which proved to be a hilarity within itself.
