Swapping my nutrition plans

Well, I've mentioned this to Facebook, but I'm mentioning it here. I've been reading, and living with/around people living it etc, and decided that health wise I'm going to phase animal products out of my diet. This isn't a moral thing (yes, I did/do have a moral issue with the way animals are treated on meat farms, egg farms, dairy farms etc. Hell ( Read more... )

Good luck with all that... I tried to quit meat once, and it lasted about a month before I nearly killed someone with the intent to eat them... I think maintaining your protein balance is important, and partially why I failed so quickly and miserably. Be careful to watch your health and keep balance... it's not impossible (not even hard, I've been told), but it's also easily neglected.

Yeah, that's why I'm so lucky to have the people around me that I do, they're teaching me how to use things like tofu, wheat meat, and how to make beans taste like non-vomit. :)

(oh, and btw, I do plan on allowing myself 'treats' now and then, after I am past the craving part of the addiction. hehe I don't believe that a single serving of animal proteins will ruin my diet or anything.)

I found giving up meat was a LOT easier than I may have imagined. There are meat substitute products for just about everything nowadays. If you throw some spices or sauces on it, it's all just as good. So much faster/easier to cook than real meat! I've been vegetarian five years now. I never thought I could have given up chicken.

Anyhow, quitting smoking was a lot harder than giving up meat, ha ha. Good for you that you're working on your health. Encouragement!

I guess I have no point of reference because for me it's been SO hard giving up the meat (and especially cheese) and yet I've never gotten anything out of smoking so that combined with those ex-smokers ditching the meat made me assume. heh

And yeah, I've been eating the meat substitutes with Eric a lot over the last like 8 months, and aside from actually Making these substitutes they're pretty much the same. I guess it's much easier to make wheat meat than it is to raise a chicken though! haha

Thanks!! :D

I would definitely have a hard time with cheese as the last time I had vegan cheese it wasn't that great. I think it's all what you get used to though. Good luck!
