The package would arrive late on Friday -- a small box containing a tiny blanket crocheted in silky pink yarn. There are two envelopes inside on top, one marked to Jou, the other to Rie in very careful hiragana, as though the writer had held her pen very stiffly to avoid making a mistake.

In Jou's: Jou-san, I hope this blanket will be a good choice for your patient. I hope that she does not have too many blankets already! Please continue to let us know of her progress?

I am certain also that this time must also be very stressful for you. What great responsibility, helping to bring a baby into this world. The care with which you speak of Rie-san, however, shows your dedication and your compassion to her. With even just these traits, I think you have come to a level of doctor that some unfortunately never understand. It is admirable.

Be well, Jou-san.

In Rie's: Rie-san, you have never met me, so it must be very strange to you to receive a package from me. I have heard about you, however, from Jou-san, who has ( ... )

Package to Rie paper_angelxo June 7 2007, 00:39:06 UTC
The package is wrapped in baby pink paper with a white bow tied tenderly at the top. A bright green envelope is strapped down by the bow, with the words "To Rie-san" written on it; another envelope, with the words "To Jou-san" written on it lies beside Rie's envelope. Inside the package are tiny pink baby clothes, with a picture of Koromon stitched by Hikari herself onto the tummy of the shirt.

To Jou-san:
I think it's wonderful that you're being so nice and caring towards Rie-san. It must really be hard to be a mother at such a young age, but I know that with a responsible doctor like you taking care of her, she'll be just fine.
~Hikari

To Rie-san:You may not know me, but I hope my gift will be of some use to you... Jou-san said you were interested in Digimon, so I went and stitched the first Digimon I ever met onto your future baby's gift, in hopes that she will also have a partner of her own one day. I hope that you have a smooth delivery and that you don't feel scared, because you are truly in the most reliable hands you ( ... )

Inside Jou's apartment sitting next to his door is a large white box topped with a large pink bow and bound shut with a matching ribbon. Tucked under that ribbon is a white enveloped labeled 'Rie' in Shuu's trademark handwriting.

Atop the box is another envelope, this one addressed to Jou. And on top of that rests a yellow post-it note. It reads:

Your landlady let me in so I could drop this off; it was too large for your box. Hope you don't mind.

- Shuu

The box contains four items:

1. A pink-and-white striped diaper bag.
2. A large set of the smallest diapers Shuu could manage to find.
3. A frilly baby outfit, decorated in chocolate, creme, and cinnamon hues, wrapped in a light layer of decorative tissue paper.
4. A large photo album containing many photographs of Digimon, presumably taken by Shuu himself.

Inside Rie's envelope is a message scribed in Shuu's neat print on plain white paper.

Rie,

I'm sure you've met Shin sometime while you were in the hospital, but you've never met me. I'm Shuu, Jou's other brother. The one ( ... )

Inside Jou's envelope is a message written in Shuu's clean print on plain white paper.

Jou,

Lately I've been thinking about it again--the power to evolve Digimon. You said your crest was 'faith', right? And you said that you used that crest to evolve Gomamon into Ikkakumon, didn't you?

Recently, I started thinking that maybe Ikkakumon is simply a physical manifestation of the product of your faith--your faith in yourself, and your faith in those around you. When you have that faith, you're able to completely change the world around you, the same way that Professor Takenouchi's daughter was able to completely revolutionize her relationship with her mom and dad with love alone. With just that faith of yours, you can do things normal people couldn't. And I'm sure it's the same for the other chosen children and their respective crests.

Just have faith in yourself and in your patient, and everything will be all right.

Good luck, Jou.

Shuu
