“Keep it down out there! Some of us are trying to study!!” There was a moment of silence before I heard apologies shouted through the walls. Moments later he appeared, the one who stupidly stole my first kiss years before.
“We didn’t realize how loud we were…Sorry..” With a bow, he stood there momentarily, as if expecting me to tell him it was okay.
“You always come in apologizing, why don’t you just try being quiet instead?” Flipping the worn page of my text, the next thing I heard was the close of my door. With a sigh, I continued reading but soon found myself distracted. Absentmindedly, my hand slid along the side of the book, letting it fall shut with a quiet thud. The soft luminance of my computer monitor faded as a simple press of a button sent the computer into hibernation. Without a thought, my body rose and made its way toward the room adjacent to my own. The door was cracked open, revealing a dark room. Inching forward, as I expected, I found the room empty. Entering anyway, I remembered just how different our rooms were. Everything here had it’s own place and was properly organized; even the cords for all the electronics were neat and untwisted. My eyes wandering, they caught his desk and fell to a stack of letters, all addressed to one ‘Kim Jaejoong’. Hmpfh, no doubt feeding his own ego yet again with fan letters. Rolling my eyes, I let them lay there, untouched. He always knew when something had been moved, even when it was placed right back where one found it and I didn’t feel like dealing with that again. What am I doing here? As I turned around, footsteps and laughter, faint at first, began growing in volume. I decided to take my leave before I was caught. The light from the hallway, almost blinding from the previous darkness I had experienced, stopped me briefly as my eyes adjusted. The laughter suddenly stopped, and the footsteps slowed. Turning, I stopped and stared at them.
“…Where you…Where you in my room just now?” Wide eyed with confusion, Jaejoong waited for an answer. Not hearing a response from me, he asked again.
“So what if I was? I was looking for my iPod and your room was the first one I suspected would be easy to find it in. It’s so damn pristine, you could find anything in there with ease. Well, I didn’t find it in there and I didn’t mess with anything so don’t question me any further.” With that, Yuchun turned to Jaejoong, put a hand on his shoulder, and whispered something I didn’t care to ask about before heading to our room. Still glazed with confusion, Jaejoong’s expression added a bit of sadness to his demeanor.
“I know you didn’t touch anything, I wasn’t going to prod you anymore…Besides, it’s getting late, I was just confused is all…” With that, he silently walked to his room and shut the door.
“You didn’t really lose your iPod did you? That thing never leaves your sight…So what were you really doing in his room?” It was Yunho, his voice filled with concern and authority. “I won’t tell him since it’s obviously a secret, but I need to know what’s going on if I am going to continue watching over everyone."
“How long have you been behind me?” I asked, not turning to face him, I was hoping it wasn’t long.
“Long enough, that’s all you need to know. Now answer me, why did you really go into hyung‘s room?”
“I don’t know, I just found myself there, alright?” Not waiting for a response, my mind was determined to make it back to my room without another word about the topic. Yuchun looked up as I swung open the door, only to shut it behind myself immediately. I was sure a knock would soon follow with Yunho on the other end, but it remained silent. I almost longed for a knock to break the eerie silence I was not expecting. Lazily heading toward my desk, I stared at the surface as my body met the seat. I could feel Yuchun staring at me but didn’t say a word, I didn’t want another confrontation.
With softness and concern, rather than questioning, Yuchun finally spoke, “Changmin, is everything okay? This is the first time Jaejoong has found out about you entering his room without him around, but it’s not my first time. I know you probably don’t want to talk about it, but something’s going on and I’m worried.”
Hanging my head, I manage to turn the chair around and speak, my eyes meeting Yuchun’s as I formed my words, “I see, well, if you’ve seen me, there’s no point in lying about it. Everything’s fine, I just…” With a sigh I wish he had just kept quiet. “I don’t know, I find myself wandering in there every now and then without a reason. It’s so damn annoying, it’s sickening to see everything so pristine...It’s like walking into a woman’s room, add the fact that he shares it with Junsu hyung, there’s no reason I should even want to enter when it’s empty, but I do. Look, I don’t want to talk about it, okay? Let’s just get some rest for tomorrow.” Yuchun smiled weakly and nodded to tell me he wouldn’t probe any further.

The clock read 06:28 when my vision cleared. With my sheets a mess as usual, I swung my legs around to one side. Looking over my shoulder, Yuchun was still sound asleep; he was always the last to wake up. Standing, I stretched and yawned a little before the smell of breakfast perked me up. Scratching the top back of my head, I staggered to the door. Opening the door, the aroma grew stronger. The hallway giving way to the kitchen and dining area, Yunho was busy placing food on the table as Jaejoong finished preparing the last part of the meal.
“Good morning Changmin.” Yunho suddenly announced without even looking my way. Jaejoong turned and barely made eye contact before turning his attention back to the kitchen. Eyeing both of us, Yunho interrupted, “Breakfast will be finished in just a minute, have a seat.” Motioning toward an empty seat I sat near the end of the table, away from an oblivious Junsu who was busy playing a game on his Nintendo DS Lite. With a sigh, Yunho looked around. “Yuchun is still sleeping isn’t he? Junsu, go way him up…” As Junsu remained unresponsive, Yunho snapped his fingers but as there was still no reaction, so he reached for the system. When his hands came into Junsu’s view, moving dangerously close to interrupting his progress, Junsu immediately drew it back and whined.
“DON‘T! I’m in the middle of a battle!” Yunho eyed him closely and repeated his earlier statement. Tilting his head and pouting slightly, he agreed and disappeared to wake the last member. The rest of the morning proceeded fairly quietly, something I was thankful for. Perhaps it was what happened last night, or maybe it was my stronger desire for a quiet atmosphere than usual. More than once, I caught Jaejoong staring a hole in the side of my head, but I wasn’t about to say anything in front of the other members.
The day eventually found us at a photoshoot. Yunho fussed as usual when the stylists and coordinators were busy with the other members. Jaejoong wouldn’t leave the mirror, and Yuchun and Junsu were busy playing around while I waited for the shoot to begin. Kicking an invisible rock, I made a jagged circle in front of the backdrop. All of a sudden, a tube of eyeliner rolled into view on the floor. Confused, I stopped and stared at it, wondering who lost it.
“I’m sorry Changmin, could you toss that back to me? Yunho was making such a fuss of not getting attention that I had to start working on myself.” It was Jaejoong, his eyes apologetic and filled with hope that I would be kind enough to give him the make-up without any trouble.
“Call me ‘hyung’ first.” With a quick nod of my head, I smirked. I had the upper hand and he had to give in to get things moving. “If you don’t, I keep this and it’ll be your fault that the shoot starts late because you lost your eyeliner” With a pout, Jaejoong reluctantly gave in. I don’t know what came over me, usually I’d just ignore it and experience the sweet taste of victory, but this time I wanted to tell him I was sorry for treating him that way. I wanted to take him into my arms and make him happy. What’s happening? Why do I suddenly care how he feels? I’m going to kill him one of these days..
Instead of throwing it, I decided to hand it to him personally. With a grin, I slowly handed him the tube and whispered into his ear, as he tensed up, “You know, I rather enjoy that. You should call me ‘hyung’ more often.” With a wink, I hit him in the arm. Shrinking back slightly, he rubbed the point of impact. “Oh come on, you know you like it. The harder I hit, the more I love you.” Teasing him was always so much fun, not quite as fun as Junsu at times, he was easier to tease than Jaejoong, but I got bored of such easy endeavors every now and then and Jaejoong was a terrific substitute. Returning to the backdrop, Yuchun and Junsu were bumping into each other like idiots in front of the cameras.
Jaejoong came up shortly; Yunho was the last to join us. For what seemed like an eternity, we waited. I couldn’t stand being next to Jaejoong, so I made my way to Junsu and started poking fun at him, anything to distract my mind from him. “Ready everyone?” Yunho asked as he clapped his hands together, smiling even though we’d all been ready for quite some time.
Unwillingly, I took my place between Jaejoong and Yunho. It was a simple shoot for a magazine. The usual cute poses as though the cameras weren’t on us, and then the sexy charisma shots. The cute shots were as a group with a few serious of us together. The sexy shots were last and I was the second to finish so I got to watch everyone else with relief, knowing I wasn’t next. Second to last, Jaejoong took his place in front of the camera as Yuchun stepped to the side and told him to have fun. Unexpectedly, Jaejoong made eye contact with me more than once. Needless to say, it was a little uncomfortable. His eyes were almost asking me if he was sexy enough, looking for praise I wasn’t about to give. Last was Yunho, I was always impressed by his ability to turn on his charisma instantly whenever there were cameras present…So different from his usual quirky and clumsy self, it was as though he was a completely different person. Lost in my own thoughts, I hardly noticed the clapping and praise issued as Yunho’s turn was over.
“Okay, surprise pairing shoot and interview for each!” Our manager shouted as we all had just taken our seats to relax for a minute before packing up. Everyone looked over at him with a confused look, myself a slight glare. I never cared for the pairings that much, sure it’s cute how the fans put some of us together, but I never liked being intimate like that with the other members, especially Jaejoong because he’s always so annoyingly giggly and interrupts an otherwise perfect shoot with his little fits of laughter. I could handle the other members…Minsu was just Junsu and I shooting back quick insults until I won. Yoomin was always interesting, we always had a surprise up our sleeve. And Homin was professional, easy to do, quick and painless without any interruptions. Shaking my head, I prayed Jaemin was not the first couple to go. Luckily it was announced that Hosu would be first, I sat back and enjoyed watching the shoot. Hosu was such a pure couple, nothing could ever go wrong with the two of them. It was like watching a pair of brothers enjoy each other’s company…Yunho being the protective hyung, and Junsu being the innocent dongsaeng. The only thing with Hosu was that they were so predictable, nothing bad ever seemed to happen between them when they were in their couple mode, it was like they were untouchable, and that got boring, real quick. Yoosu was next, followed by 2U and then Yunjae.
I was dreading the end of Yunjae before it even began because that meant Jaemin was next. Listening to the two of them go on was almost sickening. Their talk of being so close, the touching, the little looks…All for the fans, it meant nothing, it was just a game to them. Sure they were close, but their charade of making it so real was beyond my comprehension. Why put on such an elaborate show? As usual, Jaejoong was giddy around Yunho, unable to stop smiling almost. Giggling at every little touch, looking at him with so much longing it looked as though he would burst if that longing was not fulfilled. How does he do it? How can he look at him like they’re a real couple? Shaking my head, I decided to turn up the volume on my iPod and focus on the beat of the song that was playing, rehearsing our new single to myself. Without a word, a tap on my shoulder startled me slightly, waking me from my own little world I had created to distract myself in.

I know not a lot happens, but I needed to build up to the good stuff ^^;
