Just had to argue to keep my Bachelor degree, since apparently the class my adviser told me was an elective was actually a core required class, and "I would never tell you that it was an elective." despite another classmate also receiving the same information. Plus side, I can still get my degree. Minus side, the class I was looking forward to next

This is why I think advising is a joke. They seem more likely to screw you up than actually help you. They certainly didn't help me.
