I don't usually do this, but I spent too much time thinking about this nonsense to just post it as a comment on another LJ.
(By the way, the three people across from me in the Loyno computer lab are singing Smash Mouth's "Allstar" while I type this.)

this is a written manifestation of an exact conversation we had around a campfire in Virginia with the pg 99 dudes. overlaps: pixies, nirvana, weezer, replacements. additions: pearl jam, 311, red hot chili peppers, braid, j church, dinosaur jr, sebadoh, jawbreaker, pavement, promise ring, superchunk, rage against the machine, and I think chuck or maybe mike b. had the nerve to put pg 99 in there.

i was never really exposed enough to quite a few of those bands. i really don't like the chili peppers w/ the exception of 'higher ground'.

superchunk is kay bt never really caught me.

40oz to freedom was the last albm eliminated from my list.

obviously i was 'exposed' to pearl jam, but none of their albums in those given years outweighed the albums on my list with respect to impact and appreciation on a personal level.

starting in 2005 i really got jaded & have been really hard to impress. the only bands i've "discovered" since The Huricane & that still impress me are The Ergs & Fucked Up (& the dangers' anger lp, given potential (?) release of new material...?)
