Am I the only person on earth who feels the movie honestly wasn't that good?
No, honestly, think about it. It just felt like a bunch of cool ideas that never really went anywhere and ultimately leaves you with a nice, heavy case of blue balls.
What was the movie about again? Oh yeah, the dead guy.
How ironic.
Bravo Joker, you got us again.

And this is my first "new" Batman film so I had no idea that Gary Oldman was such a great Gordon.

It was. I'm just saying it wasn't THAT good. Some of the plot didn't really make any sense to me.
And yeah I noticed how they never let Bale, as Batman, talk for too long.

How can a fantastic piece of filmmaking not be "that good"?

It got lots of praise and whatnot far before its release and for all of the wrong reasons.
As a film, it's supposedly good, but saying "well, HEATH LEDGER PLAYED THE JOKER RIGHT BEFORE HE DIED" seemed to be the main selling point for praise. :\
