I have my own perceptions of each city. Most on personal experience, but I thought it'd be better to invite other points of view before applying what I know/how I feel.
Coincidentally, your thoughts match up with what how I feel about each city for the most part.
It looks like it's not on the list, but if Minneapolis College of Art and Design is worth considering I can put you in touch with a friend of mine who just finished up there.
It honestly depends on if it has a degree program in Advertising. Plus, these finishing schools are much smaller (one or 2 buildings) which means I wouldn't be stuck with a major university tuition wrestle with. XP
I live in Austin, so I'd certainly recommend it (I'm very glad to see that Houstin, TX isn't on your list. That place sucks major ass [and not in a good way]). As previously stated, the weather can get really hot during the summer, but our winters are nice.
As for stuff IN the city: there's a lot to do. I've been all over Texas and I have to say that Austin is one of the best places to live if you really like food. The selection is very nice. <3
If you wouldn't do Austin, though, SF is a close second. The weather there (aside from the fog) is absolutely wonderful, but, from what I understand, the cost of living can be as much (if not more than) twice as much as that of Austin. Unless you happen to have an assload of money, you'd probably not actually be able to live IN SF, but rather in a town over from it.
I don't know about Chicago, but I can certainly suggest that you not move to Atlanta (hot and in the middle of a hardcore redneck state), Miami (in Florida; enough said), or NYC (cost of living can be insane and the crime is bad
I've never been to Austin so I'd be very curious to see how it is. Heat wouldn't bother me unless I didn't have air conditioning. I live in Savannah, so uncomfortable heat and sticky humidity is what I'm used to.
Well, Austin is a badass town. Spent about 15 years there. It's nothing like the rest of Texas. It's got a great vibe, lots of cool things to do, lots of great people as well.

But if you can afford it, I'd see if you can get into the School of Visual Arts in NYC. It's one of the top rated programs in the country.

I'd feel really uncomfortable moving all the way out there, but...if I have to then there's no argument.
