Blu rays of Sunshine

Well, my sister and everyone on the Internet were right. The first two thirds of Sunshine are beautiful hard-ish science fiction. The last third is a complete waste of time.

Milestones: This is not my first Blu-Ray movie, but it is the first completed (obviously Planet Earth is a long-term project). It is my first Blu-Ray rental from Netflix.

science fiction, ps3, movies

Agree. I still love the movie though, and repeat viewings (when you can accept ahead of time the strange turn the movie will take) are less disappointing. I absolutely revel in the golden color palette. Not so much the film-stretching multi-exposure effect.

The disc has a pretty amusing and unique commentary track by an actual CERN physicist....
(But oh my god keep away from those "short films" Danny Boyle included from his friends. Absolute garbage.)

Yes, I still consider it a must-watch. On reflection, my quick review was a bit harsh. The important fact is that it's two-thirds of a great movie, and most movies don't manage to be that good for nearly that long. It reminds me of Dune, another sci-fi movie that goes off the rails in the second half, and as I said about that, "half a good movie is better than none."

Plus my LJ username suggests that I will eventually forgive you if you spill your horror in my sci-fi.

Hey, and if you are watching Blu-ray now (yay!), does that mean you have a PS3 and are on PSN?
